Lexington, Ohio – August 1st, 2012 – The Conquest Endurance team arrived today at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course ready to continue its winning momentum after taking its first American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron victory two weeks ago at Mosport. Drivers Martin Plowman and David Heneimeier Hansson will compete this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge and will be looking to continue closing the gap to the championship leading Level 5 Motorsport team.

Heinemeier Hansson and Plowman had a fierce wheel to wheel battle in their Morgan-Nissan car with the Level 5 car at Mosport and came out on top in a perfect weekend in which the team was quickest overall during testing, then took pole position in the P2 category during qualifying, and scored its first victory on race day. The Conquest duo is now only eight points behind the leaders in the drivers championship with five races to go in the season.

The 2.258-mile track at Mid-Ohio holds special meaning for Plowman after winning here from pole in 2010 in Indylights, and then making his IndyCar debut in 2011. Heinemeier Hansson will be making his first trip to the tight and winding circuit but the rookie driver has proved to be a fast learner at new tracks and is confident that he will be quickly up to speed as he did at Mosport.

Conquest Endurance will also have a new lead engineer beginning this weekend. Lionel Chevalier has joined the team in a full time basis replacing Thierry Bouvet who had assisted the team as a consultant engineer from the DAMS Racing team. Chevalier is a 20-year veteran who has been involved with Formula 1, Formula 3, and was most recently the lead engineer for the Signature team in the Formula 3 Euroseries.

Activities for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course begin this Thursday, August 2 with a promoters test, followed by official practice and qualifying on Friday the 3rd which will be streamed live through ESPN3 and XBOX Live at 1:05pm EDT. The two hour and 45 minute Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge will take place on Saturday, August 4 at 1:05 p.m. EDT. A two-hour television broadcast featuring live coverage will air on ABC-TV from 2 to 4 p.m. (ET).

“I’ve never been to Mid-Ohio, but I had also never been to Mosport. The Morgan-Nissan is so easy to drive and our setup rolling off the truck tends to be so good that you really can focus most of your time, just learning the track rather than messing with the car. So I’ve just been studying the onboard Youtube videos and can’t wait to give it another go for the top step of the podium.”

“Finally getting the win in Mosport was a relief, but heading into Mid-Ohio, I’m sure that Level 5 will be planning their revenge to take back the top spot. Now that we have tasted victory, the whole team will do whatever it takes to stay on top.

Mid-Ohio is one of my strongest tracks on the calendar, so for the first time I won’t be learning a brand new track during practice. I’ve had a lot of good memories there – winning pole, lap record and my first big win in America in Indy Lights in 2010, so I really hope that I can reproduce that same form heading into this weekend.”
