Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin – August 17th, 2012 – Conquest Endurance and Martin Plowman scored their second career pole position today during qualifying for the Road America Road Race Showcase, round seven of the 2012 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron. In what was an exciting battle for the P2 Pole, Plowman managed to turn a lap of 1m54.218s on his fourth time around the 4.045-mile circuit which was good enough to give him his second pole position in three races.

Plowman and teammate David Heinemeier Hansson have been strong since their #37 prototype rolled off the truck on Thursday and they´ve led all but one of the sessions during the race weekend. The team’s first Pole came at Mosport earlier in the year where they were also quickest all weekend and eventually went on to take the team’s first ever win in their short ALMS career. The Conquest duo will be looking to score their second win during Saturday’s four hour race as they continue their epic battle for wins and the championship with the Level 5 Motorsports team.

Today’s pole position was even more impressive considering that Plowman’s first laps around the Road America circuit came only yesterday during the first testing session of the weekend. For Henemeier Hansson it will be his second start at the historic Wisconsin track after making his ALMS debut in 2011 in a GTC car.

The green flag for the Road America Road Race Showcase will drop Saturday at 3:30pm (Eastern), the race will be streamed live on ESPN3 and XBOX Live and will be shown tape-delayed on TV this Sunday at 2:00 PM (Eastern) on ESPN2.

“I’m very excited with our result today. Road America is a pretty special place, even though I had never been here before I did a bunch of laps in iRacing before coming here so I knew which way it went, but once you drive it in real life its not nearly as easy. This place is very fast, very fun, and its epic, its one of the iconic tracks in America but you need to have a lot of respect for it.

The team has done a great job all weekend, we were fast right away and the car has only gotten better over the weekend. We are ready for the race tomorrow, our rivalry with Level 5 although very friendly, has become very aggressive and competitive on-track. They are a very strong team and its an honor to race against them because we know we are racing against the best.”

“I feel great for the race tomorrow, this is one of the best setups that we’ve had all year and the car is just great to drive. We can be fast even with old and worn out tires and the car is very consistent throughout the whole stint so that will be very important specially during a 4 hour race.

We know that have the pace we need to win and the team has done a great job all weekend. Now the key will be to stay clean, stay out of trouble, and just make it to the checkered flag.”
