Indianapolis, Indiana – May 30, 2012 – Conquest Racing in partnership with Andretti Autosport completed the Indy 500 with Ana Beatriz behind the wheel of the #25 Ipiranga Andretti/Conquest Racing machine.  The Brazilian driver qualified 13th and finished 23th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the 96th running of the historic 500-mile race.

For Conquest Racing it was the first start of 2012 in the IZOD IndyCar Series but the team quickly got up to speed and come qualifying weekend Beatriz secured the 13th position on the 33-car grid with a speed of 223.920mph, giving her the best starting position for any non full time driver in the field and her best in her three starts at the 500.

This year’s race turned out to be one for the books with the new DW-12 chassis providing exciting on track action and a record number of passes for the lead.  The Andretti/Conquest Racing Chevrolet powered machine was having a solid run and staying with the lead pack for the first part of the race.  On lap 89 a quick spin caused minor damage to the rear of the #25 machine forcing Beatriz to come into the pits for repairs.  Quick work by the Conquest crew allowed her to go back on track with a minimum amount of time lost but still a few laps behind the leaders.  For the rest of the race Beatriz maintained a quick pace and brought the car to the checkered on the 23rd position.

The Conquest Racing team will now turn their focus back to their #37 Morgan/Nissan P2 prototype in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron as they prepare for their next race, which will take place at Lime Rock Park on July 6-7.  The team will look to improve one spot after two consecutive runner-up finishes with drivers David Heinemeier Hansson and Martin Plowman behind the wheel.
