Eric Bachelart – Team Owner

Based solely on his talent and determination, he was able to graduate to the British formula car scene, the proving ground for young drivers in the 1980s. After finding success in Formula Ford, he earned an opportunity to race in America, in the Indy Lights series.

Eric proved his worth almost immediately, finishing third in his first Lights race for Ganassi-Stimola Racing in 1990. He finished on the podium twice more that year, though he ran only half of the 14 race schedule. In 1991, he won the Indy Lights Series Championship, and four of the twelve races along the way.

Eric’s championship led to an opportunity in Champ Car in 1992. He drove for Dale Coyne Racing, and for the first time, was sponsored by Mi-Jack. Eric’s Champ Car driving career was limited by the resources of the teams of which he was a part of. He made a total of 24 starts, including two Indianapolis 500s, and recorded a career-best finish of seventh place on two occasions.

In 1996, Eric began his career as a team owner. He has succeeded where many former drivers have not, establishing Conquest Racing first in Indy Lights, then in the IRL, Champ Car, and now in the IZOD IndyCar Series and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. His strong work ethic, unquestioned integrity, and driver-centric approach have helped in the growth of the company. Conquest Racing teams uniformly feature fast and reliable race cars and first-class presentation.

Eric and his wife Martine have two children, Elliot and Emilie. They live in Indianapolis.
